The other problem with the package is the number of bugs and omissions in the system.\r\n\r\nOur reviewer entered his weight and height and was greeted with an E Out of Data error at line 56. We were able to correct that by skipping to line 60 but the error is a bad oversight and, so near to the start of the program, raises doubts of accuracy of the program data.\r\n\r\nThe application has not been very well computerised, as height and weight data have to be entered in either inches and pounds or centimetres and kilos. That means extra calculations for the user who probably calculates weight in stones and height in feet.\r\n\r\nThe program also includes a database with information on dieting hints and a full nutritional guide. It also provides a weight calculation which will tell you how many months and weeks it will take for you to reduce to a certain weight. No effort has been made to check for unusual entries and we were informed that it would take 831 months and seven weeks to reach a weight of 0 pounds. We calculate that it would take slightly longer.\r\n\r\nThe Dietron package is ingenious but we cannot say it is particularly useful. It costs £4.50 and can be obtained from computer branches of W H Smith.","ReviewerComments":[],"OverallSummary":"","Page":"35","Denied":false,"Award":"Not Awarded","Reviewers":[],"ScreenshotText":[],"BlurbText":[],"TranscriptBy":"Chris Bourne","ReviewScores":[{"Header":"Gilbert Factor","Score":"6/10","Text":""}],"CompilationReviewScores":[]},{"Issue":{"Name":"ZX Computing Issue 8, Aug 1983","Price":"£1.85","ReleaseDate":"1983-07-22","Editor":"Roger Munford","TotalPages":148,"HasCoverTape":false,"FlannelPanel":"ZX Computing\r\nVol. One\r\nNumber Eight\r\nAug/Sept 1983\r\n\r\nEditor: Roger Munford\r\nAdvertising Manager: Miriam Roberts\r\nManaging Editor: Ron Harris\r\nManaging Director: T J Connell\r\n\r\nOrigination and design by MM Design & Print, [redacted]\r\nPublished by Argus Specialist Publications Ltd, [redacted]\r\n\r\nZX Computing is published bi-monthly on the fourth Friday of the month. It has a number of major functions: 1 - to work out your maximum advised weight and intake of calories according to your height, build, age, sex, etc, and 2 - it holds data on an enormous number of different foods, so that it is possible to plan a balanced meal. The data available includes protein, fiber, vitamins, etc; this section is a very comprehensive catalogue indeed.\r\n\r\nIt is also possible to load in a second program which holds information on dieting, as well as how quickly you are likely to lose those precious pounds if you cut down by a chosen amount of calories. It also explains the value of each vitamin for which data has been given for the different foods. More specifically it gives details about them, as well as the consequences of too much or too little in your diet.\r\n\r\nThis is well written and researched program which can be useful for anyone who is interested in their diet. There is a substantial amount of data in Dietron which is well worth having and using. Though all of this can be found in a book, it has been arranged in such a way that makes it far quicker and easier to use on your Spectrum.","ReviewerComments":[],"OverallSummary":"","Page":"107","Denied":false,"Award":"Not Awarded","Reviewers":[{"Name":"James Walsh","Score":"","ScoreSuffix":""}],"ScreenshotText":[],"BlurbText":[],"TranscriptBy":"Chris Bourne","ReviewScores":[{"Header":"Documentation","Score":"4.5/5","Text":""},{"Header":"Addictive Quality","Score":"4/5","Text":""},{"Header":"Programming Achievement","Score":"4/5","Text":""},{"Header":"Lasting Appeal","Score":"4.5/5","Text":""},{"Header":"Value","Score":"4.5/5","Text":""}],"CompilationReviewScores":[]},{"Issue":{"Name":"C&VG (Computer & Video Games) Issue 20, Jun 1983","Price":"£0.75","ReleaseDate":"1983-05-16","Editor":"Terry Pratt","TotalPages":100,"HasCoverTape":false,"FlannelPanel":"Editor: Terry Pratt\r\nStaff Writer: Eugene Lacey\r\nEditorial Assistant: Clare Edgeley\r\nReader Services: Robert Schifreen\r\nArt Editor: Lynda Freeman\r\nDesigner: Linda Skerry\r\nProduction Editor: Tim Metcalfe\r\nAdvertisement Manager: Rita Lewis\r\nAdvertising Executives: Louise Matthews, Mick Cassall\r\nAdvertisement Assistant: Louise Flockhart\r\nPublisher: Tom Moloney\r\n\r\nEditorial and Advertisement Offices: [redacted]\r\n\r\nCOMPUTER AND VIDEO GAMES POSTAL SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE. If you are becoming flabby and hollow-eyed due to many hours crouched over the keyboard then here is a computerised answer to the problem.\r\n\r\nDietron is a new program designed to enable you to plan your diet.\r\n\r\nNo, you don't stand on your Spectrum to make it speak your weight. Instead the program asks you a number of questions which \"will establish a complete range of values and requirements that are personal to you\".\r\n\r\nOnce your values have been calculated you can jot them down and proceed with your diet, or if you have a printer, make a print-out.\r\n\r\nKey 1 to 4 on the Dietron show you the complete range of foods for which information is held. For example key 1 will display information 37 varieties of vegetables.\r\n\r\nThe values can be reset at any time for a second person to receive information. There is also a second program on the tape which is a data bank of nutritional information. Less chips for Spectrum owners from now on!\r\n\r\nDietron runs on a Spectrum in 48K and is available from W H.
